This fits great and provides good coverage. It is comfortable, and it has two sets of snaps so it is adjustable. I used it on two of my dogs, and one is bigger than the other. The e-collar (cone) scared the daylights out of both girls. They were much calmer and relaxed in the recovery suit. It was very easy to open when they needed to go outside.

The Recovery Suit is much better option for preventing our golden from licking his wounds than the otherwise recommended lampshade. There is a sewn in pouch in the underbelly to hold an ice pack and it is possible to unsnap and resecure the back end of the garment so he can use the "outdoor facilities" whilst not soiling the suit. It is easy to put on and take off and can be washed with other towels.

Useful little onesie

I was hesitant to buy this suit as my dog (9 lb. Jack Russell mix, size S fit perfectly) doesn't like having clothes put on him but it was very useful for his recovery

I was hesitant to buy this suit as my dog (9 lb. Jack Russell mix, size S fit perfectly) doesn't like having clothes put on him but it was very useful for his recovery from abdominal surgery, especially sleeping at night and when he was left home alone. He wore a soft donut cone the rest of the time but this was a good alternative to not wearing the cone 24/7, especially when leaving him alone.

Our Newfoundland, Huckleberry, recently turned 2 and as a result is now without “berries”. Our vet recommended Gastropexy (attaching the stomach to the abdominal wall to prevent GDV) at the same time as neutering. We love and trust our vet but were hesitant because Huck weights 153 pounds and the thought of what he could do with a cone was not a good one. However, the man we got Huck from told me his wife heard from a friend that their big dog suffered GDV and they had to put the dog to sleep because they did’t have $7000 for the emergency Gastropexy! Quite the dilemma. BellyGuard to the rescue!!! We ordered 1 XXL and it worked so well we ordered another so if/when he has an accident (or dad puts him on the lead outside and forgets to put the BG in “potty mode”) we have a backup available. He doesn’t mind it at all and his incisions are healing wonderfully! I can’t recommend BG highly enough and have included a pic of Huck in his “onesie”.

Saved us from the cone

We never would have made it the two weeks post surgery with any sort of cone or inflatable collar. This suit fit our beagle well (she is 15 inches and about 23 lbs)

We never would have made it the two weeks post surgery with any sort of cone or inflatable collar. This suit fit our beagle well (she is 15 inches and about 23 lbs). She was able to sleep better and was much more relaxed for her two weeks of recovery. Her legs did sometimes get caught in it after laying down curled up. Overall definitely recommend!

He didn’t mind it too much, though toward the end of his recovery he did chew one of the not-in-use snaps off in a few minutes. I first bought a large, going by the length which for him is 22” or 23”, but it was too large for him and I was afraid he’d be able to get his nose under it. I should have gone more by the weigh (his weight is 23 pounds). The medium fit him very well on the looser of the two ways to use the snaps. The setup to snap the suit up for potty trips was very easy to use.

My dog was neutered on Friday by Sunday evening his cone was destroyed and he was licking is incision constantly. I ordered this surgical recovery suit on Sunday evening and it arrived Monday. It fit great (be sure to measure your dog. If it is close I would go up a size. The snaps are sturdy and there are two options for size/snugness. There is a pocket on the inside for padding. My dog still tried to lick so I used a waterproof pad. It worked like a charm. There is a snap under the neck so the back of the suit can be dropped then snapped there eliminating the necessity of removing the suit to go potty. I hand washed this every day. I wish I had bought 2.
