This Recovery Apparel can be worn by male and female dogs and is suitable for use after spaying and neutering.

How to measure for sizes?

Measuring your pet's length and chest circumference is the best way to gauge which size BellyGuard will be best for them. We recommend using a fabric measuring tape if you have one, which is easiest to get an accurate measurement. To measure chest girth, measure around the body behind the front legs. To measure length, measure from the base of the neck to the base of the tail. If your dog is between sizes, we recommend opting for the bigger. You don’t want your BellyGuard to be too snug on a healing incision or on irritated skin. Plus, two layers of snaps make for an adjustable, customizable fit.

Will this work on a cat?

I had never heard of a surgery suit a person on social media told me about this item and it seemed like a better idea than cone of shame. Our girl had her spay surgery and did not mind it. We loved the surgery suit. Made of all cotton easy on easy off and flip up to take dog out to pee. Easy peasy! Chewy got it to us in one day! We LOVE Chewy

Not for a dog with a double coat?

I bought this following my 7-month-old great pyr/English Shepherd/anatolian's spay. She couldn't handle it. She would just stand here in the kitchen. Stand, stand,

I bought this following my 7-month-old great pyr/English Shepherd/anatolian's spay. She couldn't handle it. She would just stand here in the kitchen. Stand, stand, stand, then walk in circles, then stand some more. She wouldn't settle with it on, so I took it off and she got some sleep. Put it on again (note that when she saw it coming, she shied away from it big time) and the same thing: stand, stand, stand, circle, circle, circle. "Give it some time," I thought. I did, but when it continued to stress her out so much and confused her tremendously when relieving herself outside, I thought, "That's it -- not going to work." We went back to the cone, which she tolerated so very much better, learning out too navigate with it on through the house and into her grate, and not shying away from it when I put it on -- actually volunteering to put her head into it! I don't know why she couldn't tolerate it, but it may have had something to do with her thick double coat. Might be a good product for other pups, but thought I'd mention how this double-coated large pup of mine just couldn't handle it.

Buy two if you can so you can have a clean one if needed

HIGHLY recommend this suit. Nice and stretchy, fits perfectly. Easy to unsnap for potty time. She did NOT lick at all after her spay. SO very happy with this product

HIGHLY recommend this suit. Nice and stretchy, fits perfectly. Easy to unsnap for potty time. She did NOT lick at all after her spay. SO very happy with this product. I bought two and glad I did because once we forgot to unsnap and she peed in it so had one clean one ready to replace. If you wash, wash on cold and DO NOT use the dryer - it's stretchy and imagine it would shrink, just hang to dry or use the NO HEAT option in the dryer.

Perfect fit and served its purpose

This obviously won’t stop your pet from scratching but at least it provides a barrier if they do. We used this in conjunction with a cone and had a healthy recovery

I bought this recovery suit and one from another brand, and I found this one to be the better of the two. The fit was perfect for my standard poodle. The design

I bought this recovery suit and one from another brand, and I found this one to be the better of the two. The fit was perfect for my standard poodle. The design for retracting the flap for potty breaks was easy to use, which is the feature that made me favor this one over the other brand. And it wasn't so tight that it chafed the area of his surgery, which the other one did. He was much more comfortable in his BellyGuard.

This worked GREAT for our little guy recovering from neutering surgery. Unfortunately I only discovered it AFTER I had tried the soft collar and another brand of recovery suit. The other brand was too gappy and he could get under it and dig at his stitches. The Belly Guard brand was better construction. Also, much easier to roll up and snap when he needed to go potty.
