10 Customer Questions

Can this diffuser be used in or near a room where a cat calming diffuser is already in use?

Answer by ChewyNov 03, 2020
While the pheromones in ThunderEase for Dogs and ThunderEase for Cats is completely different, there is no issue with using both in a multi-pet household. Because the pheromones are different, you will need to purchase more than one diffuser or spray for dogs and cats, but feel free to set up both for calming for all your pets.

Do you carry the diffuser unit?

Answer by ChewyJun 28, 2018

What does this smell like?

Answer by ChewyApr 25, 2023

Will this help with anxiety brought on by a new dog in the house?

Answer by ChewyNov 16, 2018

My 2 y/o male Giant Schnauzer needed some additional time with a trainer who suggested this product to help with calming at home. This was in addition to some calming chews. I think it is somewhat effective along with the training. We are a multi dog household so even a little help from this product is appreciated. We’ve been using it for about 2 months now.

I brought in a foster that I later adopted. The first few weeks were tense between the two dogs and I plugged this in and like magic everyone was chill. I did it for three months. It was noticeable difference when the first one ran out- tension started again. I feed them in separate rooms and kept toys put away but there was this “I see you and you don’t belong here” mentality that completely went away with these. I was able to stop using them after three months.

Who knows if this bottle of liquid pheromones actually works to calm dogs, but I have used it with previous dogs and felt it was worth using again with my newest dog, who struggles with separation anxiety. It isn't the only technique I am employing (I am also doing a lot of training and have her in a thunder shirt, among other things), but in my experience you do everything possible to help the dog, and this is one of those things. Since it doesn't do any harm, I can only recommend it as potentially helpful.

They have calmed down quite a bit since we started using the Adaptil diffuser. We had used this before for another one of our dogs & it worked then also. Gracie is a nine-month-old pup with an overabundance of energy. She's a rescue & came to us with anxiety problems. The Adaptil diffuser has helped to keep her much calmer. It has also helped Cleopatra to adapt to having a new puppy in the house. Cleo is 13 years old & wasn't sure she liked having a pup around. It's helped tremendously to calm both our girls. C. A neighbor told me about these and I'll admit, I was skeptical. I just adopted a dog that hates his kennel and I've been trying to figure out what to do to help him. I tried these and the affect was INSTANT!! He stopped whining and we're even getting to a point that he goes willingly into his bed. But was it just me? All in my head? Nope! I recommended them to a friend for her cat (the cat version of course) and her pet's reaction was instant as well! So glad I found these! I'm a believer!

Worth it!

I have this diffuser in my bedroom and it keeps my dog much calmer at night through loud storms or noise that would usually cause her anxiety

Not Sure If It Works

With two seniors, we’ve added these as a it won’t hurt and it might help so we might as well try them kind of thing. One is going quickly blind due to an eye injury

Small Miracle

CHEWEY REVIEW RE: Comfort Zone for Cats & Thunderease for dogs. In general the cat is less anxious & a little bolder with less hissing. The dog calms down & less

CHEWEY REVIEW RE: Comfort Zone for Cats & Thunderease for dogs. In general the cat is less anxious & a little bolder with less hissing. The dog calms down & less reactive & territorial. 1. After three years of trying to have one of our dogs, a Welsh Corgi, & a (now) nine year old cat get along, the Corgi actually let the cat approach her and “Eskimo Kiss,” touching noses. It was amazing that the cat approached the dog & even more amazing the dog stayed perfectly still & let her do it. No grumbles, growls, hisses, or even throaty sounds, no sign of aggression from either of them. The cat eventually purred a little more bit. They’ve lived together three years, since the Corgi was three months old & the cat was six years old having no prior experience with dogs. They’ve never tolerated each other & couldn’t be in the same room without a fuss, so we consider this a wonderful small miracle! 2. It just so happened that these were purchased right before 4th of July. It helped their anxiety about the loud fireworks too and we were all able to be in the same room so i could comfort both of them. 3. The dispensers are interchangeable - luckily since this goofy grandma bought two of the cat kits but only refills for the dog pheromones (trying to get the best deal on the sale items - haha). 3. The cat is sensitive to anything in the air. We use it in a room smaller than the 250 square feet it covers. Therefore, after about 18 hrs we have to unplug them for about six hours, then plug back in, to alleviate her hay-fever type symptoms. At least In the smaller room, 150 sq. ft., the effect lingers during the unplugged time. It seems like they’ve built a little tolerance after the initial use but it continues to be helpful. I haven’t tried the higher priced similar diffuser product so can’t compare their effectiveness. Their spray for cats works though, way past the expiration date too! . It calms our cat & she gets a bit bolder. However, the diffuser is more suitable for use at home. Good luck!
