Does this work well for urine marking?

Answer by ChewyApr 06, 2024
ThunderShirt Anxiety & Calming Solution for Cats is recommended by trainers and veterinarians to relieve stress-related behaviors such as scratching, excessive meowing, and inappropriate marking.

Foes this short reusable and washable?? I'm about to leave her with my sister for a few months then bring her with me to another country. How often should my cat wear the shirt while she stays with my sister?? Thank you

Answer by ChewyOct 07, 2018
This shirt is reusable and washable, and should not be worn for more than 5 hours at a time. Using it for longer may cause the jacket to lose its effect and the cat could become desensitized to the jacket.

Is good when doing the nail clips in my cat?

Answer by ChewyJun 01, 2019
Thundershirt’s gentle, constant pressure has a dramatic calming effect for most cats if they are anxious, fearful or overexcited during grooming.

Need to move my cats 1200 miles. 2 days of 11 hour driving. Shirt a good option?

Answer by ChewyJun 27, 2018
This ThunderShirt is helpful during travel, fireworks, thunder, separation, vet visits, grooming, and much more. If traveling for that length of time, it is recommended to only use the shirt for time spans of up to 5 hours.

This does relax my nervous cat a bit, but it was not enough to prevent her fear-based aggression. If you put it on her, she usually gets relaxed and sleepy, but if you introduce her trigger (our other cats), it is like she isn't wearing it at all and will even lunge at them (through the screen door we have set up for introductions). The sizing is also a little strange; it seems like no matter how I fasten it, it's a little too far forward behind her front legs. The patch for calming spray is in a weird spot (on their shoulder where they can lick it). We've tried various calming sprays, diffusers, supplements, and treats, and this was a bit of a last resort before moving to a prescription. She does seem to like it, so I think it is comforting. So: helps a bit, but if your cat has more intense anxiety, it probably will not work as intended.

My girl gets overstimulated easily and when she’s overstimulated she tends to chase and play too rough with her sisters. She turns into a little bully. When I notice this behavior I put her thundershirt on. She goes through the 7 stages of grief with it for a few minutes but then really calms down and relaxes. I leave it on for 30 minutes to an hour, always supervised. Wish it didn’t have to be velcro but the thundershirt really helps her.

My fearful anxious cat didn’t love putting this vest on, but once it was fully on, she lay there like a complacent purring sausage and was happy to wear it. She didn’t want to walk around with it on, but with more time she’ll probably get used to it. I’ll try it again next time she needs to go to the vet.

7.5 lb slim cat size Small seems too small

I just got this for my cat after having used two for my dog over the last 10 years. The sizing chart, small is for a cat under 9 pounds. My cat is 7.5 lbs and slim. The vest fits lengthwise but I can't fasten the top flap because then it would be too tight. I feel like the medium would be too large in length. Wondering if it will get looser because the fabric is also stiff. They should've used thinner Velcro for the straps for the cat version. Unsure if I'll be keeping.

Thundershirt

No matter how much enticing, I could not get my cat to wear it. When I forced it on her she freaked out, rolled around then threw up.

Clio is a senior cat and thinner than she used to be at 7.6 pounds, but she’s healthy. She goes to the vet monthly for her arthritis shot. The size chart says under 10 pounds is a small. I was wary, but bought the small. I tried, but no luck. If it worked as a cape it would be fine. Lol It won’t even meet around her torso. Chewy immediately refunded me and I’ll be using it to purchase the next size up, medium, ASAP. I’m sure it’s worth it. Just be aware that the size chart isn’t perfect for every pet.

I’m not sure if this works or not. My cat definitely doesn’t hate it because she doesn’t run away when I try to put it on her, but she has a hard time moving (or at least pretends to) when it’s on. It doesn’t feel too tight on her because I can fit my fingers easily underneath it, but she stumbles and falls over when she’s wearing it and it freaks me out so I take it off of her. I’m not sure if it’s normal or not. Again, I think if she hated it she would hide when I went to put it on her, but it concerns me how much it makes her stumble.

Works very well on my energetic male cat. He purrs and is instantly calm once his Thundershirt goes on. Although the sizing is a bit off. I used the sizing charts, but still had to size up. I recommend sizing up even if you don't think you have to. The velcro will allow for some adjustment if the Thundershirt ends up being too big, but can't make up for a smaller size. Thankfully, Chewy is pretty generous with their returns and refunds.

Great at first but did not stand the test of time

Most cats that need a product like this have long term needs. WE were thrilled with the thundershirt for the first week or so. Our cat responded very well to it and it did actually really calm him (he is dealing with some anxiety/skin issues), so he could begin to heal the spots that were raw and red. However the shirt fell apart after about 2 weeks. Velcro came off, and didn't adhere any longer in some spots. My cat also got his mouth caught on the neck tabs trying to remove this item making me realize it should only be worn with supervision, otherwise it could be dangerous to him. I feel this is a good short term solution, and not for any cat with more serious issues.
